The Current Situation

Currently, Grand Rapids is behind many other similar size cities in literacy measures. Greater Grand Rapids Reads is working to establish common literacy measures to report to the community, but even before these are complete, there are some data that paint a clear picture of the need for more emphasis on literacy services in Kent County.

The objective of this section is to give a very brief overview of the available data. Data links for local and national literacy statistics are available.
